WHEN I WORRY
Worrying
Is exhausting
And
It wastes my time
It steals my energy
It steals my focus
And
All I can see is me.
When I’m staring at myself
And my mind is
Chewing on the wondering
And the fear
Of what the future might hold
Is crippling me
And
There is pain now
That seems endless.
But do you know?
Do you know that we
Only know what we know
And that what we’re chewing on
Is probably
NOT the future.
Do you know that
We can know
We should know
We do know
The real live Truth and
It will set you free
From everything
Even worry.
Do you know what
Your future holds?
I do
And because I know
That’s all I need to know
And if I believe the Bible is true
(And I do)
The real live Truth is that
Jesus is coming back and
HE WINS.
He’s already won.
He won over suffering,
Even death
When He
Suffered
And died
For ME.
The real live Truth is that
He came out of that grave
And if that’s true
(And it is)
Then His death
Bought my whole life
Bad
Ugly
Shameful
Heartbreaking things
He took it all from me
To save me
From myself
From my bad
My ugly
My shame and
My heartbreak
That’s a love
Like no other.
And if He has the power
To take my past
(And He does)
(And He did)
Then
He has the power
To hold my future
Which means
He knows the future
(And I don’t)
And the future is bright
For all who believe
The Truth.
Which means
When I worry
I don’t really believe it
And I’m telling Jesus
I know more than He does.
The Truth is
I don’t need to know and
If I stop staring
At myself
I can only see
JESUS.
And all my worry
Turns into prayers
And
Melts away.
And it is there
I find peace.
“Pray: let God worry.” (Martin Luther)
“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”
(Philippians 4:8 NLT)
