DAY 7: PARROTS

Let’s hop on over to the bright side this morning! Lincoln and I have been doing these 5 minute writes all summer. Some are amazing, some are deep, and some are just silly! It’s so fun to do it together, and I’m surprised every time by how much I can write in five minutes.

Here’s a recent one, for your reading pleasure.

IF YOU HAD A PET PARROT WHAT WOULD YOU TEACH IT TO SAY?

Lincoln:

I would teach him to say Lincoln’s hungry if I give him a cracker. I would teach him to say don’t come in, Lincoln is gaming, if I raise my controller. I would teach him to say hi there. I would teach him to screech when I whisper caw caw. I would teach him to say 5 more minutes when someone comes in and I’m asleep.

Me:

For starters I would tell it to say “STOP LICKING THE COUCH!” I say this to my dog eleventy hundred times a day. Also, “SOMEBODY GET MAMA SOME DINNER! She’s HANGRY!” This one because why not? Maybe someone will do it!

Then, I think I would teach it sarcasm. And insults. And all the things I want to say but can’t (like do you know how bad you stink right now??)

Finally, I would teach it to speak words of love to me. Because who doesn’t want that? Especially from a parrot!

(PS I sort of want a parrot now.)
