These 3 guys, they got lost in the forest. God put them there to see if they really have faith in Him. It was a test.
The first guy has a lot of obstacles, and he’s mad about it. He thinks this is just another reason why he shouldn’t have God take over his life, because he thinks that because of the obstacles God is punishing him for no reason. He thinks he’s a perfectly good guy. He’s cursing God and heaven because of this thinking. This first guy, he goes to church and he thinks he’s a Christian just because he went to church. He knows God’s there, but he still wants to be in complete control of his life. He doesn’t want to give God his life because he doesn’t like the idea of someone else being in control of him. It makes him feel like he’s being used.
The second guy, he has a little less obstacles than the first guy, but he still has quite a few. They’re small, but he’s whining so much. “Why me, this isn’t fair!” So he’s not paying attention at all. He’s tripping over all the little things, which makes him whine more, which makes him trip more. It’s like a continuous cycle.
The last guy, he knows that he can’t do it by himself. So the first thing that he does is he kneels down and prays because he has total faith. He’s praying “God please help me to overcome these obstacles. I can’t do this without you.” After he prays, he still has teeny tiny obstacles, ones that even if he wasn’t paying attention he wouldn’t fall on. But he is paying attention. He does still have some obstacles though, because Satan is trying to tempt him to not be with God. God is keeping the obstacles really really small, but he doesn’t eliminate them. God is seeing that he has total faith, because the first thing he did is he stopped and he prayed. It wasn’t just one of those prayers that some people do. Some people only pray about things that are really huge, but he prays about the little things.
Like at school, if someone has this subject that isn’t his best subject, and he studied really really hard for that test. He asks God not just to give him the answers, but to give him confidence to do well. That’s called God confidence.
Some people pray for tests because they didn’t study at all and they just want the answers because they were lazy. I don’t think God just gives them the answers, because they didn’t do their part.
Ps 119:105 says God’s word is a light to my feet and lamp to my path. God put those three guys in the forest in the dark, so it’s really hard to see. That’s another reason why they keep running into all the obstacles. The third guy, God makes it easier for him to see because he has total faith. He has a light for his feet and a light for his path. Why?
The first two guys don’t read the bible, so they don’t know about God and who He is. You have to do your part, and you have to read His word, and believe that he’ll help you.
At the end of the faith test, God knew that he gave them all a choice. The first one, do you want to be a Christian or do you just to ignore Me. Ignoring Me would be very unwise though. The second guy is do you want to be a total Christian or do you want to abandon me? Again abandoning me is very unwise. You just can’t stay in between. You’ll go one way of the other. He’ll fall back like first guy or move on like the last guy.
The last guy – his choice is, do you want to keep going strong?
God helps with the problems and listens in, because he listens to everybody. The first guy isn’t a Christian yet but he still has an opportunity. The second guy is a Christian, but He just needs to keep improving his faith and get into a deeper relationship with God. The third guy is a Christian, and he just needs to keep having God in his heart. He knows that God won’t abandon him, and that God is always there for him, even if his answer doesn’t come right away. That’s total faith.
